Advantages of M.G.M.S. Membership

The Molecular Graphics & Modelling Society is an international society which is dedicated solely to the interests of molecular modelling and all related aspects of computational chemistry. The Society is a registered charity and non-profit making organisation, established in 1981. The society has currently several hundred members with a geographical spread including most European countries, North America, Japan and Australia.

The Society organises an annual meeting which currently rotates between continental Europe, the UK and the rest of the world. The Society also has local chapters based in Germany and Australia. These regional chapters and the UK committee of the Society each organise smaller meetings which are focussed on one particular aspect of molecular modelling. In the UK there are about three meetings a year. All meetings are open to all members.

Members enjoy a reduced subscription fee to all meetings of the society. The charitable status of the Society means that membership is inland revenue accredited and thus can be offset against tax. Meetings deal with computational aspects of drug and pesticide design, protein and nucleic acid structure, molecular mechanics and dynamics research, applications of quantum mechanics and advances in all aspects of computational hardware and computer graphics. An important aspect of selected meetings is the chance to see some of the latest commercially available hardware and software at the associated exhibition.

In conjunction with Elsevier, the Society publishes the Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modelling. The journal appears 8 times a year. The journal is published in full colour and is devoted to high quality practical and theoretical papers on the use of computers for the investigation of molecular structure, function and interaction. Members can choose to subscribe to this publications at a greatly reduced rate.
