It is advisable to avoid the city centre and take the outer ring road, which is the A64 to the south and east of the city, and A1237 round the north and west. Follow the University signposts from the outer by-pass, leaving from the junction of the Selby road A19 or the Hull road A1079. There is free car parking close to all University buildings

From the station they university may be reached:
By foot - Following the walking route indicated on the map. The distance
from the railway station and bus station (Rougier Street) is approximately 2.5
miles to Heslington Hall.
By bus - There is a regular bus service operating between York Station and
Heslington at approximately 12 minute intervals from Monday to Saturday between
8am and 6.30pm. In the evening the service is reduced to half-hourly intervals.
Sunday service operates every hour.
By taxi - A journey by taxi from the railway station to the University Campus
will take approximately 15 minutes and costs about £3.50. There are additional
taxi ranks in the city centre at Duncombe Place, Piccadilly and St Saviourgate
Manchester Airport is 2 hours away by train. Trains run direct from the airport to York Railway Station.
London Heathrow Airport: take the underground to Kings Cross station and then continue to York by train (see above).
London Gatwick Airport: take the train to Victoria Station and from there the underground to Kings Cross Station.
