Graham Richards who will receive the 2018\u00a0Richard J. Bolte Sr. Award for Supporting Industries on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencehistory.org\/event\/heritage-day-2018\">Heritage Day<\/a>\u00a0on May 9, 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prof. Richards was a pioneer of the field, being part of the first generation of researchers to use computers as part of chemical research, particularly in the context of pharmaceuticals.\u00a0\u00a0 He had a long and distinguished career at the University of Oxford, including a stint as Chairman and confounded its first spin-off \u2013 Oxford Molecular. He also helped set up the University\u2019s technology transfer company, Oxford University Innovation.\u00a0 \u00a0He was one of the first to harness computer idle time to search for compounds that might be used to treat cancer and anthrax.\u00a0\u00a0 In 2001 he founded Oxford Drug Design (formerly InhibOx) and continues to serve as Chairman.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mgms.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/graham-richards-april2010.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-489\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mgms.org\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/graham-richards-april2010.jpg?resize=250%2C253\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>More information on the award can be found here :-<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencehistory.org\/richard-j-bolte-sr-award-for-supporting-industries\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>https:\/\/www.sciencehistory.org\/richard-j-bolte-sr-award-for-supporting-industries<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are pleased to offer our congratulations to honorary and founder member of the MGMS, Professor W.
